Helping Re-dedicate the Library
Members of the Broadmoor Chamber Singers were delighted to help the Morse Institute Library with their rededication on Sunday, January 4, 2009.

About a dozen singers sang some incidental music to welcome people into the library, then performed a few pieces for a gathering of special guests. They then provided a backbone of melody for the three songs performed as part of the actual re-dedication.

Although the singers wore their usual performance garb, a few folks were dressed in costumes to represent what would have been worn at the original dedication in 1874. You can read more about the event here in an article by Maureen Sullivan from the Natick Bulletin and Tab.

Framingham Honors Our Veterans
Broadmoor Chamber Singers wowed the crowd at Framingham Honors Our Veterans, a USO-type show in Framingham's Memorial Hall on November 11, 2008. In a line-up with other amazing talents, the chorus was at its best, performing three pieces early in the program.

First was a choral rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic that was truly moving. Next up the group sang Blue Skies, while real live kites flew inside in the auditorium. The final piece performed was one of the group's favorites, the gospel-styleEverlasting Melody which got everyone in the place clapping and tapping their feet.

Broadmoor members were proud to perform in honor of American veterans. The show was taped and is currently airing on Framingham's local cable TV.

Members of the Broadmoor Chamber Singers perform during the "Sweet Sounds and Tastes" benefit for the MetroWest Interfaith Hospitality Network on Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. They performed along with the Golden Tones and members of Christ Lutheran's senior choir.

An article and photos by Maureen Sullivan about this benefit concert, intended to help homeless families get back on their feet, appeared in the November 2, 2007, issue of the Natick Bulletin & Tab. What follows is part of a sidebar article in that issue:
A sweet performance

The Broadmoor Chamber Singers, which uses Christ Lutheran as their weekly rehearsal space, were among the attractions at the second annual "Sweet Sounds and Tastes" event which benefited the MetroWest Interfaith Hospitality Network.

"I started it last year," said Mary Opanasets, a member of Christ Lutheran's choir who performed a couple of solos. "There's a lot of talent in church and in town..."

"It's great," said Rev. Deiter Miss of Christ Lutheran Church. "It's good to have a mix of musical styles. It's fun to be here."

The sweets matched the songs in range, from cakes and pies to cider, donated from local merchants.
